A. a 16kw genset gives you about 70 amps at 220 volts. a stove with everything turned on draws about 40, a dryer around 25, water heater also about 25. you can also get 140 amps at 120 volts. but its shared with the 220 volt load. 140 or 70 or a combination of the two. under normal usage you should be able to run your house much the same as you would with line power. there's a lot of houses with 100 amp/220 volt services and they do fine. its rare to run everything at the same time. at worse you might have to stagger the usage. as to how long it will handle the load that depends on the genset. some might run for a couple of days while others might last for weeks or longer. fuel capicity, oil change interval, fuel type, and engine design all… [cont.]
