A. Its basically a heat exchanger wherein the air is forced through a pad made of either roots of a special grass or synthetic which is kept wet by the constant dripping of water which is circulated with a water pump. This keeps the pads wet and the air which is forced out is the air which is sucked from the outside through the wet pads and it is here that the hot air exchanges its heat with the water flowing through the pads. Thus the water evaporates slowly because of this heat exchange. Hence if this is used in a closed room the humidity levels increases and it would be impossible to stay inside for long. Hence for the best cooling effect the cooler is kept outside with the fan facing the area which needs to be cooled just like the ac. … [cont.]
