What setting do you put thermostat on with geothermal heat to get a comfortable room temperature.?
Q. Find it cool most of the time. Don't want to put a lot of heat on as cost will increase because geothermal plus electric heat will come on.

A. Geothermal H/P systems will only generate approx. 110 discharge air on their refrigeration cycle which is approx. 30 degrees below a fossil fuel fired unit. Your t-stat is probably 2 stage heat (w1 and W2 terminals) with w2 being your electric back-up. Typically there is a 2-3 degree buffer between w1 (H/P) and w2 (electric). If your space temp is 65 and raise the t-stat to 70, you have exceeded the 2-3 degree buffer and 2nd stage electric comes on. The trick is to move temp up slowly by 1-2 degrees at a time. If you are handy, you could install a seperate t-stat for just the elctric back-up as a fal-safe in case the H/P crashes.
